Ka'anapali here we come

Okay, let me bring everyone up to date! We've been here for two weeks now & this place is really nice..probly too nice for us Oklahoma hicks, but we'll make the most of it. The three Agans arrived here on February 16th..Mike, Carolyn & Felesa..and what a place! Massive pool, hot tub, exercise room, restaurants & I don't know how many waterfalls & Koi ponds. We're sat by the pool, on the beach, gone for whale watches, gone snorkeling at many spots & just enjoyed the tropical setting. Felesa left on Thursday, February 21st, and Terry & Fonda Haws arrived the same evening, crossing pathes at OGG. We dropped off Felesa and waited for the Haws & headed back to the Ka'anpali Beach Club. We've been enjoying the resort ever since & have done another whale watch & will do a Molokini snorkel cruise next week. We have been to many snorkel spots, including MM 14, Honolua Bay, Kapalua Bay, Molokini, Turtle Town, with more to come. As far as eating out, the best so far was the Hula Grill last night on the beach & great food & entertainmnet. Penne Pasta comes in a close second. Oh, and lots of whale activity dowe at the pool & beach. The road to Hana was also completed on Wednesday, the 27th & it was very lush, with lots of BIG waterfalls to stop & observe. I'll try to do a better job on updates. ALOHA!

BEDLAM and whales

What a day! We wake up to "liquid sunshine" on Maui, but you all know how that goes..first some light rain, then it clears & more sunshine, but today is Bedlam in Stillwater & our Cowboys beat ou in OT! Then the Cowgirls won over K-State in a romp & the OSU Baseballers won too! So off we go to Kapalua to get some beach time & snorkel. A little breezy but the bay is protected so we get in a couple of snorkels and see lots of fish & coral..lots of Humu's! Down to the Cannery Mall for a DQ & some shopping..we "saved" 28 bucks at Safeway, but spent a few too. back to the KBC & HAppy hour by the pool & the usual Hawaii sunset. Now to clean up & go get a bite to eat...but what?

Ka'anapali Beach Club

Well, sports fans, Kihei was not a great experience. The Maui Lu was ok, but now we've moved over to west Maui & the KBC condos..what a place! But the day started off early with a planned dawn whale watch cruise, so at 5:30 am the rental car--Nissan Altima--would not start, so I called Dollar & 4 hours later we had a new car..with an actual key! We will re-schedule the whale watch, but what an inconvience! So out of Kihei to Paia & breakfastt at Charley's & a bloody Mary! (Now we're better!) On to our condo & what a pleasant surprise..it's a FAB spot! We're on the 10th floor in a new room & it's lovely.Great views of the ocean, a kingsize bed & nice kitchen. We unload & head for the pool & the ocean and some whale watching from the beach & of course, Happy Hour! Pizza for supper in the room and get settled in..we're kind of pooped.

WHALES

Yep, we're up about 6:00 & put on the coffee & go out to watch our lovely humpbacks. They're all over the bay & far out too! Lots of breaches, flops & logging. What a wakeup for Valentine's Day! We've got a whale watch cruise today at 12:30, so I'll be back. It was a great cruise & lots of whales, with one calf (baby) really getting with the breaches & spins. Two hours well spent! Back to the harbor & a late lunch at the Ocean Front Restaurant for Happy Hour drinks and pupus. Now what? Back to the hotel, an ABC store and more whale watching and even some vodka soaked gummy bears. Felesa chats with a young couple while we lounge and shower. A pretty good day.

Kihei Day

YEA! We made it to Maui! I can't beleive that we actually caught the connection at LAX & on to OGG by 12:40 PM, local time. Picked up our car & off to find The Cafe O'lei for lunch, or whatever meal it may be. (We left our house at 5:00 Am, so it was a long day.) The lunch was FAB! I had the Makawako Burger, KK the seared ONO with salad & Felesa the Maui onion soup & salad. Now to check in at the Maui Lu. It's an Okay place but a little old, but we get at ocean view & actually see some whales off shore breaching & playing..what a view! So, as the sun sets we go on up to Wally to get some staples of life & find a lot of items are sold out..oh, it's "food stamp day".., but we do ok & head back to the hotel for some snacks & wine. Off to bed about 11:00..kinda chilly too.
