Dolphins and a Hawaii farewell

WOW! What a finish to our stay on the BIG island! We're up pretty early & pack all of our stuff and check out about 9:30 and head to our snorkeling spot. We do make a stop at the Dragon's Lair Coffee Farm & visit with Bob & Beryl, who own a 5 acre farm in Captain Cook, HI. Bob's a great talker and loves his coffee beans! We get a quick tour and watch him roast a few beans & buy a couple of pounds of the organically ground Kona Coffee. Then down to the City of Refuge & hoping the dolphins are back. Not yet, but after an hour or so, here they are! KK was not going to get in, but now she will. We all swim out there & a pod-or two-of about 25-30 spinners show up and put on a show! We think they like to play with us humans & there may be a little "messing around" (socializing as it were) going on too! What a great way to end our trip & KK says that will do it for her snorkeling career-it won't get any better than that experience. Back to our condo to clean up, pick up our bags & go to dinner. We chose Bubba Gump's, right on the bay & what a show! The surf is really BIG & lots of surfers, a BIG cruise ship anchored off shore, outrigger canoes racing and spinner dolphins all over the bay! You should have been there! And, the food was good, as usual, and the beer cold-"run Forrest , Run!" Our California friends, Steve & Marlene came down too & we all just enjoyed the scene. Off to the airport for our 9:10 flight to San Francisco & the usual checking-in torture. I slept most of the way and we finally made it home by 5:30 on Thursday-Thanks Wayne! We're a little tired but after unpacking, I go for a quick 10 mile ride & pull a couple of weeds.
