Yes, it's time for the Super Bowl, but dem Stillers are not in it, so who cares...right Kevin? So we may not watch much of it, especially with the blue Pacific calling. We're up about 7:15, which means we're getting acclimated already. Get the coffee going! It's time for cookies & sittin' on the lanai & whale watching. Our garden area is fab! A really great fan-palm is just across from us & lots of multi-colored tropical vegetation. I'll write a couple of postcards to mom for tomorrow & KK's trying to get on face book, as Geoff is visiting Dottie (mom). A little breakie & down to the pool area to check that out & sure enough, there's some whales out there, messing with some kayaks! Off we go to Snorkel Bob's and rent some gear for the two weeks..now we're ready! Up to the new DQ & our first dip cones of the trip! And some shopping at Target, a new area up here & pretty nice. Now we decide to go out to the local harbor to find Capt Jim McSweeney's boat for a possible whale watching trip. YEA! We find it & chat with Tom, an employee & call the number & book a trip for Tuesday at 7:00 am,..a 3-hour cruise & Jim is supposed to be THE expert on the island...hope so! Back into Kona-town & more staples at Foodland, and then maybe some football watching. We get to the room & make sandwiches & watch some of the game---NY wins! And I call Cass to try & help us with the PC..thanks Cass! Now we hop in the car and head north to try & find a snorkeling spot that the Wallis's told us about..by the Mauna Lani Resort. We find some but not sure it's the place they were talking about. A couple of good hikes to beach areas & one thru an old lava field where lots of lava tubes have collasped. Lots of feral cats & mongoose around too. A beautiful golf course is all around us, some Honu's playing & eating in the surf but not a good spot to snorkel. We'll keep tryin'! And a nice sunset! Up to the shops at the Mauna Lani & some Annie's Mackies! (supper!) Back on the road and a long drive back to Kona & supper. Then some reading, popcorn & catch up on the Super Bowl highlights. A good day & tomorrow some snorkeling at "two-step"..the place of refuge.
